Benachi House & Gardens, New Orleans's most romantic venue

Entry to the premier New Orleans event venue: Benachi House & Gardens

Newly restored, redecorated and repaired after Hurricane Katrina and now featuring 20th Century art from Jan’s private collection, a garden of 22 varieties of heritage roses and a splendid Beaux Arts pavilion, fabricated in France and installed on our lawn - for your ceremony, reception or other private party.

Call for an appointment to see how our classic landmark, plantation-style house (c. 1858) and its park-like setting can dress up that New Orleans courtyard wedding, elopement or party.

We can prepare a wedding or party package to accommodate your dreams and your budget – or you may rent the house and grounds and do all or a portion of the planning on your own. Bride and bridesmaids wait inside the Benachi House mansion before the ceremony.

BH&G terraces, porches, gazebo, lawns and flagstone walkways comfortably accommodate up to three hundred guests. Secure, off street parking is available.

We offer discounts for events on week nights and during the Summer, and special pricing for a only a small ceremony with champagne reception.

We have worked with most of the most sought-after caterers, wedding photographers and destination wedding planners in New Orleans, and we are happy to work with the professionals whom you may choose.

Your out-of-town guests may choose from the over night accommodations offered by B&B’s located within a few blocks of our front gate. Wedding guests gather around the front fountain and gardens.

Both the Benachi House and the Esplanade Villa sustained damage in Hurricane Katrina. Although neither building flooded, water from the levee breaches filled our yards, trees were dismembered, our roofs ripped up and the architectural elements that make the buildings distinctive tossed around like toys. I resolved to bring both buildings back, better than ever, and began a program of improvement that includes new fences and paving, the new pavilion, repairs and repainting inside and out.

Bed & breakfast use in both buildings has been discontinued and is not expected to resume. Since Katrina, all guest rooms of our “Cotton Brokers’ Houses” have been rented to long-term guests who need housing as they work in our recovery efforts here. Evening wedding reception on rear terrace.

As if Katrina were not enough, in February, 2007, an electrical fire in the laundry room ceiling of the Esplanade Villa destroyed much of the back wall and 25% of the attic, before NOFD brought it under control. The Villa is now fully repaired and its guest rooms occupied.
