The Benachi House


THE BENACHI HOUSE ACCOMMODATIONS
Four guest rooms: two with private, full baths;
and two others that share a full, hall bath and a connecting, private sitting
room. A telephone and bath robes are provided in each. Rates are for single
or double occupancy. The rooms are named for the Benachi children.
Pandia's Room
$115 per night
You can hear the garden fountain play from this first floor room that adjoins
the rear gallery and kitchen. Convenient access to the parking area. The antique
furnishings include a Rococo Revival dresser and American Victorian mahogany
double bed. Private adjoining hall bath.
Belasario's Room
$125 per night
Rumor has it that one owner was interested in hot air ballooning,
and assembled his balloons in this second floor room, located in a wing of
the main house. Furnishings are all 19th Century American, including a Renaissance
Revival dresser, carved Victorian double bed and writing desk. Additional
conveniences are private entrance and bath, walk-in closet and television.
A/C and heat by window unit.
Marie's Room
$105 per night
Guests
in Marie's Room, on the second floor at the front of the house, enjoy a view
of the garden and use of the grand balcony, where outdoor seating is provided.
Furnished with reproduction antiques, including double bed, armchair and
writing desk. For parties travelling together it is available as a suite
with Irene's Room, with which it shares a full hall bath and private, connecting
sitting room, with cable television.
Irene's Room
$105 per night
The afternoon light in this generously proportioned, second floor room
filters through a giant Sycamore, the largest of the seven major trees on
the property. Furnished with reproduction antiques, including a Queen size
bed and love seat. For parties travelling together it is available as a suite
with Marie's Room, with which it shares a full hall bath and private, connecting
sitting room, with cable television.

The Esplanade Villa

ESPLANADE VILLA ACCOMMODATIONS
The Villa's suites are known by the style of
furnishings we have chosen: Aesthetic, Golden Oak, Eastlake and Renaissance,
all with private baths. For single or double occupancy the three larger suites
are available for $135 per night. The sitting rooms of the three larger suites
may accommodate a third or four guest at a charge of $25 per night, per person.
The smaller suites, Renaissance and Eastlake
II, at the rear of the house on the second floor, are offered at $125 per
night, single or double occupancy. Each features a sitting room and bedroom.
Aesthetic Suite
$135 per night
$25 extra per third or fourth guest
This first floor accommodation features a matching walnut and
burl walnut double bed, marble-top dresser and mirrored armoire, all in the
Aesthetic taste, and crafted by J. W. Davis, Louisville, KY, c. 1885. In
its sitting room is a brass and iron double bed, marble-top washstand, serpentine-front
tiger oak chest and carved Victorian sofa.
Golden Oak Suite
$135 per night
$25 extra per third or fourth guest
The ensemble here features a matching marble-top dresser and
washstand, mirrored armoire and double bed, all with a rich golden patina
and Renaissance carvings. Its sitting room includes a three-quarter size Victorian
bed, loveseat and armchair.
Eastlake Suite
$135 per night
$25 extra per third or fourth guest
Contains an excellent example of the carved oak furniture that
has come to exemplify in America the style popularized by Charles Eastlake
in England in 1880. The restored, matching set consists of marble-top dresser
and washstand, mirrored armoire and half-tester (canopied) bed with custom-made
mattress that is larger than a double but somewhat smaller than a queen. Its
sitting room contains an American Renaissance walnut sofa and "lady's" chair,
and a bird-eye maple double bed and matching dresser.
Eastlake II Suite
$125 per night
Features a walnut and burl walnut two-door armoire and matching
dresser with white marble top (c. 1880), a recamier, and an Empire Revival
chest. The bed is antique brass.
Renaissance Suite
$125 per night
Guests will enjoy the American Renaissance Revival walnut armoire
(c. 1880) and dresser, and its American Renaissance half-tester (canopied)
carved walnut bed (c 1870). The sitting room contains a walnut loveseat and
comfortable side chair.
